Markings:

Singed with monogram, dated and inscribed ‘CMR / ROM 1907’ lower right, Exhibition label of Kunstsalon Emil Richter, Dresden, on the stretcher; moreover, inscribed ‘Carl Max Rebel 1907 / Römischer Herbst’

Condition:

The paint surface has darkened somewhat and shows vertical pressure marks from the stretcher to the center. There is minor rubbing throughout the painting. The varnish has been renewed. The inspection under UV light reveals several strokes of retouching to the figure of the sitter, and scattered touch-ups to the lower background. The frame is slightly chipped
